It asks users not to answer any calls from a number +60127275401 claiming doing so will download the deadly Blue Whale game to your phone. The second part of the message in Tamil warns users not to click-open links titled “I Love You,” again for Blue Whale Game. It also says all the data on your phone will be hacked. No, as explained below, the claims about Blue Whale Coming onto WhatsApp are Not True.

It is known that the Blue Whale ‘Suicide Dare’ Game has inflicted some deaths in teenagers on social media across the world. Consequently, there were many stories about it online warning parents to keep their children away from social media and smart phones, for the sake of safety. The current story garnered because of those concerns in past.

Firstly, despite the claims, it is not possible to download a game to your smartphone simply for accepting a call. Moreover, Blue Whale is not an app to download. It is a suicide dare challenge operated through social media, where the master/curator of game approaches gullible victims. Blue Whale Game is also not available on Google Play Store. The number +60127275401 mentioned in the message is actually a Malaysian phone number, which notably, appears on True Caller with the name “Gurdeep Singh (Blue Whale)”. The message in Tamil presents phone number +919962901564 allegedly belonging to a Syed from Chennai Police Press. The number actually belongs to Mr. Syed Ahamed, the Proprietor of a Hardware shop in Chennai. Again, the number appears on True Caller with the name Syed Police Report (Syed Report Chennai). Both the numbers are in fact reported as Spam on True Caller. Therefore, someone might have saved the numbers under those names and they got saved in True Caller directory.
So, the story warning about Blue Whale coming onto WhatsApp through a phone call from number +60127275401 is a fake, hoax message. Clicking a WhatsApp message with link titled ‘I Love You’ also will not download the Blue Whale suicide game to your phone. On WhatsApp we have seen some other fake messages like these; some warning not to download a video from certain number.
