Story:
The new free app Who Deleted Me!
You Can Now See Which Jerks Have Unfriended You On Facebook.
Analysis:
The story about a new, free app ‘Who Deleted Me’ became very popular online claiming that Facebook users can see who have unfriended them on the social networking site. Yes, it is a fact, but the app has been deleted later due to violation of Facebook policies.

About The ‘Who Deleted Me’ App
In early 2015, Anthony Kuske, a developer based in Exeter (City in England) created the Free app called ‘Who Deleted Me’ (deleted.io) that was available on Android, iOS and as a browser extension. It revealed which Facebook friends have deleted (i.e. unfriended) you since the app was installed. It also showed which Facebook accounts have been deactivated. The ‘Who Deleted Me’ app became very popular soon, as Facebook users were eager to see which friends had deleted them – perhaps because deleting people from Facebook is seen as an insult by many users.

‘Who Deleted Me’ App Deleted
In early July 2015, following request from Facebook, the ‘Who Deleted Me’ app was taken down by the developer and removed from app stores. The browser extension was also disabled and is no longer available on any platform. The app was violating Facebook platform policies, which includes not notifying users when someone unfriends them. The app developer mentioned this on his website and also said that all personal information of the app users has been securely erased.
