Fact Check:

Some messages doing rounds widely on social media claim Bollywood hero Ajay Devgn Donates Tanhaji’s First Day Collection of 15 Crores to Ayodhya’s Ram Temple. They also appreciate and congratulate the hero for the same. However, there are no such credible reports – the claims are not true.

Ajay Devgn Donates to Ram Temple?

The claims in question are doing rounds widely in India through Twitter, Facebook and also WhatsApp. Consequently, fans started praising the actor for the ‘generous donation’ towards construction of Ram Temple at the historic place of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (2020) is a Bollywood Hindi movie based on the life of Tanaji Malusare, a 17th-century Maharashtrian Maratha military leader under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The movie starring Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol and others released on 10 January 2020 and collected over Rs 15 Crore at the box office on first day. The movie about the war hero also joined 100 Crores club in next few days. However, there are no credible reports of the said donation either in media or from the makers/actors of the movie.

On 14th January 2020, Ajay Devgn thanked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for making the film tax-free in the state. But the UP Government did not report any such donation towards Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir.

Earlier in February 2018, the actor and the team of his movie Total Dhamaal donated Rs 50 lakhs to martyrs’ families of terror attack in Pulwama. At the time, they also decided not to release the film in Pakistan. But the actor or Tanhaji movie team did not make any such donation to Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

So, the messages claiming Ajay Devgn donated Tanhaji’s 1st day collection of Rs 15 Crores to Ram Temple in Ayodhya is just a hoax. In a short video posted on 11th January 2020, the actor expressed hearty thanks to people for showing love for the movie. He also urged all Indians to watch the movie and understand the sacrifice of the war hero, adding Tanhaji unites India.
