A ‘breaking news’ doing rounds on social media mentions an American DNA Expert claiming Rahul Gandhi is Not the Son of late Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The message accompanies what appears like a newspaper clipping of Hindi report of it. Despite the popularity, the claims are not true.

About the Claims: Rahul Gandhi Not Son of Rajiv Gandhi

These claims are doing rounds on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp since at least January 2019. The ‘newspaper report’ in Hindi mentions an American DNA expert Dr. Martin Sizo has the DNA samples of both Rahul and Rajiv Gandhi and that they do not match. Allegedly, the DNA expert held a press conference and broke the shocking news. The message also says he is ready to come to India and show the proofs of his finding. The message concludes by mentioning Congress party members are silent on the matter and are not ready to speak anything.

Actual Facts

Firstly, we did not find any such credible news report mentioning DNA proofs saying Rahul is not the son of Rajiv Gandhi. Considering Rahul Gandhi is a popular political figure in India, any such report will easily appear in mainstream news. On the other hand, we did not even find any American DNA expert Dr. Martin Sizo coming up with such claims. Moreover, a close observation will reveal the Hindi ‘news report’ contains some grammatical and punctuation mistakes, which is unlikely in a genuine report. Above all, there’s close facial resemblance between Rahul Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi – clearly suggesting their relation.
