Allegedly, the incident hidden from public took place while he was in the Jaish-e-Mohammed camp discussing strategy with the Terrorists. No, the claims about the death of Mani Shankar Aiyar are not true.

Some social media users mentioned absence of Mani Shankar Aiyar in news lately, even during Lok Sabha elections in India. They went on to suggest he was involved in a terrorist camp on the fateful night of Balakot Airstrike and was killed thereby. The former Foreign Minister and leader of Indian National Congress Party has been part of some controversies with his words and remarks. In 2014 he mocked PM candidate Narendra Modi saying a chai wala (tea seller) can never become the Prime Minister of India. Again in 2017, he called Modi ‘neech aadmi,’ a “low level person bereft of any culture”. After Rahul Gandhi condemned the tone and language of Mani Shankar Aiyar, he apologized to Modi.

Despite the social media buzz, there’s no grain of truth in the theories surrounding ‘disappearance’ of Mani Shankar Aiyar. The senior Congress leader is in fact very much alive and busy campaigning for the Party in South India. Aiyar clarified the same to ThePrint (theprint.in) on 27th April 2019 and refuted his death rumors on social media. He also added his Party did not give him any specific responsibility to election campaign.
