2. The Sundarbans Ghost Rare & Real Photos

Analysis:

A picture supposedly showing a Creepy Ghostly woman in the Sundarbans has been doing rounds online since many years, especially through forwarded emails. According to one story attached to the picture, when the guy in the photograph went to the Sundarbans (National Park in Bangladesh) with his friends, he asked one of them to click a picture of him. While he was taking the picture he allegedly saw the ghostly figure and screamed and fainted before dying of heart attack two days later. It’s said that the guy and other friends did not know about the ghost’s presence until the photos were developed. Another story that comes with the photograph mentions similar story, but says the young man in the picture visited the historic Fort Mountain in Georgia. Both the stories say that people who forwarded the story (in email) have had good luck and those who did not faced bad luck, and asks readers to forward the same. No, the stories attached to the picture of Sundarbans Ghost are not facts.

The photograph shows a youngster, and standing behind him is a creepy legless ‘ghost’ with long loose hair and empty eye-sockets. However, there are no credible reports to validate the paranormal claims that come with the picture that often circulates in chain letter messages. In fact, the “ghost girl” has been added to the photograph of the young man using some image manipulation software like Photoshop. It is in fact an old, popular picture.

Old, Popular Picture

Back in 2003 Ananova website ananova.com reported that Thanthi, a local newspaper in the southern city of Tiruchi, was duped into publishing the photograph of a ‘ghost’. The story said the boy in the photograph was among a group of students from Bangalore who were visiting a picnic spot in the Puliyancholai hills and that he went into coma after seeing the image. The reports caused a panic among the local population and even children stopped going to school.

Notably, the actual photograph of the Ghost girl (see second picture in Image Gallery) is a famous Graveyard Ghost that comes with the below story. According to it, when a British photographer took a picture of the cemetery, it revealed the Ghost girl, who is said to be a Malayan girl supposedly raped and brutally murdered by a Japanese soldier in WWII:

The photo is old and it was taken after the world war 2, it was supposedly taken by a British photographer in an old Malayan cemetery.

When the photographer took the picture he didn’t see anything unusual, but when he developed it, there was a Malayan girl in it. Soon as he saw the picture, he began to have nightmares. She supposedly appeared in his dreams trying to say something (I’m figuring its “you have eaten a bad curry”). She was not at peace or she was pissed…I’m not sure which one…….. And then for some strange reason the British photographer then turned into a witch doctor …….bad curries will do that….. and found out that this ghost belonged to a restless soul (maybe it was something she ate too?). The sponsor of this photo is Mylanta, available in both liquid and tablet form.

The story continues………The girl was supposedly raped and brutally murdered by a Japanese soldier in WWII, so she is searching for who did it to avenge her death. She will visit every house to find her murderer (boy she’ll be busy!!). There is apparently only one way to stop her (from what?…..visiting every house or turning people into witch doctors?). Of course you are supposed to send this e-mail on to 50 other people or else – GASP!!!!!!!!!!!! you might become a witch doctor, or be haunted by a bad curry…..that’s a threat NOT TO BE TAKEN LIGHTLY!

Although stories say the Ghost photo is totally real according to researchers, it is again one of those chain emails that ask (scares) readers to forward the message to others in the name of bad luck. So in short, the ghost stories attached to the creepy woman-figure seen in the photograph are simply hoaxes; the image is computer-generated fake.

Hoax or Fact:

Hoax.
